Zscaler, a US cloud security company, committed on 1 September to reduce its worldwide headcount by about 3%, it said in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission [1].
It expects $30.0 million to $33.0 million in one-off charges, mostly severance and benefits, recognised mostly in the first half of its 2027 financial year [1].
The filing says the cuts are "strategically reallocating resources to provide additional capacity to support our AI and growth initiatives" [1].
What it measures
Zscaler had over 8,700 employees on 31 July 2026, so 3% is roughly 260 people. That count is ours, from the two filings [1][2].
About 60% of its full-time staff were outside the US at that date [2].
What it does not tell you
Which teams, roles or countries are affected. The filing gives a share of headcount and a cost, not a list.
Whether the AI work it names will hire new people. The reason given is the company's own account [1].
