Everything this imprint can publish free, it publishes free. Where a body of research produces data, the data is released under CC BY 4.0 — copy it, republish it, adapt it, build on it, sell something built on it. The only condition is credit.

You do not have to buy anything to check any of it.

Computing Careers 2026 — sources, gaps and roles

The source bibliography, the gap register and the role index from the first body of research. Every source carries the grade it earns, the date it was published, the date it was read, a locator or a stated reason there is none, and what it cannot tell you. Every question the research could not answer at the grade it requires is in the register rather than estimated away.

As CSV and JSON, with a data dictionary that is computed by the build rather than hand-kept, so it cannot drift from the files you downloaded. The counts, the columns and the downloads are here.

What gets released, and what does not

A dataset is published when the research behind it is published. It is not held back to make a book look more necessary, and it is not released early to make a project look busier than it is.

Three things travel with every release, because a file without them is not evidence:

• The grade of each source, on the five-grade scale used across everything published here, so you can see what a figure will and will not carry.
• What is missing. A register of the questions the research could not answer at the grade it requires, published beside the answers rather than after them.
• A dictionary, generated from the files themselves, describing every column and how complete it is.

Citing it

Each dataset page carries its own citation and, where one has been deposited, a DOI. Credit is the only condition of the licence, and a citation that names the version is worth more than one that does not, because these files are revised when a source revises.

What is not here

More is coming, and this page lists what exists rather than what is planned. There is one body of research published so far, on one corner of a wide subject, and what it covers and does not cover is stated in full.

If you have compiled something that closes a gap in the register, the corrections route takes it, with credit.
