The full story Check the source

The Cyberspace Administration of China said on 14 September that 124 more generative AI services completed registration with it in July and August 2026 [1].

That brought the total to 1,112 registered services by 31 August, according to the regulator [1].

The new batch includes 7 services that run generative AI on the phone itself rather than in the cloud [1].

What it covers

Generative AI services offered to the public in China, which must register under the country's interim measures on generative AI [1].

Apps and features that call a registered model through an API are registered with local offices of the regulator instead. There were 133 new ones in July and August, and 731 in total [1].

Apps must show which registered model they use, with its name and registration number, on their product pages [1].

What it does not tell you

How many of the services are in use, or by how many people. Registration permits a service to operate; it does not measure use [1].

What the review involved. The announcement lists the approvals, not the reasons any were refused [1].

A grade says how much weight a source will take, from 1 (a body that can compel an answer and has nothing to sell) to 5 (somebody describing what they sell, or themselves). The standard sets out what each grade may be used for.
