Blaize, a maker of processors for AI inference, began a restructuring on 24 September that includes cutting about 26% of its employees. It disclosed the plan in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 30 September [1].
The company expects the cuts and other measures to save about $7.5 million to $8.4 million a year. It expects to finish by 31 December [1].
The cuts will cost about $1.1 million to $1.3 million, nearly all of it severance and benefits, mostly booked in the third quarter [1].
Blaize says it will put the savings into its more profitable lines of business. Its chief executive named its hybrid AI platform and services, its autonomous systems business, and national "sovereign AI" programmes [1].
What it measures
The 26% is the company's own share of its employees, given as approximate [1].
At the end of 2025, Blaize employed 254 people, 228 of them full-time [2]. The filing does not say how many work there now, so the number of people cut cannot be worked out from it.
What it does not tell you
Which teams or countries the cuts fall on. The filing gives no breakdown [1].
Whether the savings will be enough. The figures are the company's estimates, and it says they could change [1].
